Our 2nd half opened with Medicine Warriors Native American Dance Troupe performing In Memory of Kenneth James Bradley" by Nanette Bradley Deetz.

AEI Literary Cultural Arts Awards were presented by Alameda Poet Laureate Mary Rudge. First to receive was Malcolm Margolin for 25 years of publishing serving California Native Americans. Accepting for Malcolm Margolin was Dave Holt.

Dennis J. Bernstein received the AEI Literary Cultural Arts Award for his poetry book, "Special Ed, Voices from a Hidden Classroom."

Alameda High School Poet Laureate Awards were given by Alameda Poet Laureate Mary Rudge to Sophia Starling-Shirley accepted by her teacher, Cathy Dana; Robin Levy with her teacher Elizabeth Norris; and Alexandra Barajas with her teacher Lydia Martinez. The two HSPL present each read an original poem.

Guo I Lee
Alisha Rodrigues, AEI 1st VP, and Natica Angilly, AEI Pres. give a commemoration to our dear friend, Dr. Guo I Lee. Dr. Lee died at 103 years. She wrote poetry past 100. She was crowned as a poet laureate of China on the Great Wall of China during her 100th year. She was also known as the poetic "Mother of the World."
