Presenting poetry and dance as a unified art form

Artists Embassy International's
Meet the Artist Reception
January 17, 2015, 11:30-3:300
Alameda Museum, 2324 Alameda Ave., Alameda, CA 94501

Photos by George Holly and Judy Hardin Cheung

We had a standing room only audience for most of the perfomance.
There was the usual endless buffet presented by Judy Cheung with the help of Nicole Dobson Neal and Kay Renz. People were invited to get up to visit the buffet and to visit the museum gift shop at any time, as well as look at the arts that adorned every wall and corner.
Alameda Island Poets were among our invited presenters.
Alameda High School Poet Laureates
Alameda High School Poet Laureates for 2014-2015 school year were crowned with ceremony, given recognition with their teachers, and given special time to read a poem.
Takako Miyashita, Ikibana Dance
A highlight for the show was the original performance of the creation of an ikebana work of art performed in front of our eyes as a beautiful dance. This is probably the first Ikebana Dance ever performed in the world. It was beautiful Thank you Takako Miyashita for this magnificent and unique performance.
Natica Angilly's Poetic Dance Theater Company performed "Paint Your Life," a grand prize winning poem by Cathy Dana in the Dancing Poetry Festival, 2014. The dance featured painted scarves by three silk artists who won a contest for this honor sponsored by Angar Mora's Salons for Your Imagination, WOW! in San Rafael, CA
Dancers of the Pharoahs performed "It's All About Balance" with swords.
Banat al Hoggar performed "Mardi Gras" with masks and exhuberant moves.
Allegra Silberstein performed a solo.
